Non-Emergency Stretcher Services
When a Seat Is Not an Option
Some riders cannot be transported in a seated position. They may be bed-bound, recovering from a procedure that requires them to remain reclined, or living with a condition that makes wheelchair transport unsafe or uncomfortable. For these individuals and their families, the gap between “needs a stretcher” and “needs an ambulance” can feel impossible to bridge. Golden Age Transport provides non-emergency stretcher transportation for medically stable riders who require a reclined position during transit but do not need emergency medical care or continuous medical monitoring.
This is a specialized, private-pay service coordinated with families, caregivers, assisted living communities, and discharge planners. It is designed to move the rider safely and with dignity—without the cost and clinical intensity of an ambulance.
Who This Service Is For
Stretcher transportation is appropriate for riders who:
Cannot sit upright for the duration of a trip and must remain reclined on a stretcher.
Are medically stable but bed-bound or largely immobile.
Are being transferred between a hospital, rehabilitation facility, nursing home, or home when a stretcher is required.
Have a scheduled medical appointment or procedure and have been cleared for non-emergency stretcher transport rather than ambulance transport.
Do not require oxygen administration, IV monitoring, or other active medical care during transit.
Stretcher transportation is not a substitute for emergency medical services. If the rider requires medical monitoring, emergency intervention, or is clinically unstable, call 911.
What Stretcher Transportation Involves
Because stretcher transport requires specialized equipment and additional staffing, it is scheduled in advance and coordinated directly with our team. The process typically includes:
Pre-ride coordination. We confirm the rider’s mobility status, pickup location, destination, and any facility requirements before the scheduled date.
Stretcher-equipped vehicle. The rider is transported in a reclined position on a stretcher, secured according to established safety practices.
Trained attendants. Stretcher transport is staffed to support a safe transfer and a comfortable ride.
Facility communication. For discharges and facility-to-facility transfers, we coordinate with discharge planners, case managers, or family members to confirm timing and readiness.
Return-trip planning. When the rider is returning home or to a facility, we confirm the return plan in advance.
Common Situations We Serve
Hospital discharge to home or facility — when the patient is stable but cannot tolerate a seated position for the trip.
Facility-to-facility transfers — movement between hospitals, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living communities when stretcher transport is required.
Scheduled medical appointments — specialist visits, wound care, imaging, or follow-ups for non-ambulatory riders who have been cleared for stretcher transport.
Return home after an extended stay — a planned, non-emergency stretcher ride when the rider’s condition requires reclined transport.
